Yuzuki Japanese Eatery launches new menus, drops izakaya moniker

Izakaya Yuzuki is now Yuzuki Japanese Eatery.

The name change has been a long time coming for owner Yuko Hayashi, whose Japanese restaurant on the (Tartine) corner of 18th and Guerrero has long veered away from more typical “izakaya”expectations.

With newish chef Kentaro Ikuta now fully up and running, Yuzuki offers an omakase menu on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday; do note that it needs to be ordered a week in advance and now costs $100.

The normal a la carte menu is online, but gluten-free and vegan menus are now offered as well:

Gluten Free Menu

(We use wheat free tamari soy sauce)

house-made fresh tofu

fresh cucumber with sesame oil and shichimi

house-made “Nuka” (rice bran) fermented vegetable pickles

fish nuggets with local seasonal vegetable with ginger soy

“yakitori” chicken thigh meat with scallion

Yaki surumeika 9
“salt koji” marinated Hokkaido squid with spicy yuzu mayonnaise

Kakiage-tempura 15
shiitake mushroom and shrimp tempura with green tea salt

Yaki Omusubi 15
grilled rice with uni and water cress, yuzu soy butter sauce

Koshihikari rice 12
cooked in Japanese earthen pot by order
